I stumbled upon a remarkable segment from the PBS Newshour on the dual threat of HIV and Tuberculosis in South Africa. As the report points out the “terrible twins of HiV and Tuberculosis” are inextricably linked in South Africa, with one in four Tuberculosis-related deaths occuring in HIV+ individuals. In addition, a possible 70% of South Africans presenting with TB are HIV+ and what was once an old man’s disease has found new life in the young and positive.
